A Provocative Remark About Item Upgrader
World of Warcraft Item Upgrades
Upgrades to items are a method to increase the stats of an item. Based on the type of upgrade it can increase an item's Mark Level or Rarity and boost additional stats.
Upgrading gear in The War Within requires a certain number of Flightstones and Crests and each item has an upgrade track. Each upgrade increases the cost of the next one by a certain amount.
Item Level
The value of an item's stats base increases as it is upgraded. This is the sum of all of its upgraded perks (attack, magic attack and defense). The cost of upgrading items can be high depending on the upgrader and the type of upgrade you choose to make. This is due to the variety of perks that need to be changed in order to upgrade an item.
Item level is a popular measurement of power and is visible on all tooltips for items. It can also be used to limit how much PvP gear players can wear since PvP is not available at a lower level. The average item level is listed on the character sheet.
Using the item level can help players evaluate the power of equipment when they decide to buy or sell. It's a good gauge of an item's worth and how much damage it's able to deal. The level of an item can be used to compare items when examining the inventory of a vendor.
The level of the item can be seen by pressing the ALT key on your PC or using the left stick (L3) on XB1 and PS4. This will display the item's full description, including ilvl. It can also be found by hovering over an item using the mouse cursor, and then typing /itemlevel in chat.
There are several theories on how the item level calculation is done. One theory is that the level is a numerical value derived from a formula that determines the value of an item's stats are worth. It considers that different perks are valued differently, and that gems in sockets increase the item's value. This can result in an item's ilvl calculated, which is usually very close to Blizzard's real level of the item.
However, this isn't the only factor that can affect an item's ilvl since the size of the area the item dropped in can change the value of its stats, for instance by adding an additional level to its crit rating or haste rating. Items dropped in higher-level instances will have higher ilvl.
Item Stats
Stats on an item are a significant component of what determines the value of an item for players. The game uses them in a variety of ways to encourage players to not limit themselves to a single weapon, and to encourage players to experiment with other weapons. The stats of a base weapon are increased by the weapon's stat modifications, which are themselves enhanced by the player's level.
The upgrades to an item can increase the stats of an item. The upgrade costs are determined by the rarity of the item. For instance, a grey or white item can only be upgraded once, whereas an item with rare tiers can be upgraded many times at higher prices.
Another way to change the stats of an item is by affixing it. These are special stat boosts that can be added to an item by the player and are available in all shapes and sizes. The affixes can be used to give the item additional damage, or give a specific capability to the item (such as reviving dead or decreasing cooldowns), or make the item unique by adding a special name to the item.

All affixes are re-rolled at the moment by selecting them in the upgrade window, and pressing the green button. This process will cost the player a specific amount of gold and items that can be used to add to the upgrade gauge in the same manner as other rerolling options.
In addition to Rerolling affixes and rerolls, players can also choose which of the available stats they want to keep on an item when it is upgraded. The range of stats is determined by the item's level. However each item will have at least one stat in that range unless they are a unique item or an item that has a God Roll from a boss in a raid.
Another thing that could be altered by introducing an option to upgrade the equipment without having to reroll the affixes or choosing which stats to boost. But as with base equipment, this would need to be done on a per-item level, and the interface for comparing items would not display all the possible stats that were gained or lost at the same time.
Item Luck
The Luck stat of a player boosts the likelihood of locating items, the properties that are generated by loot, and the strength of these properties. However, it does not directly impact damage or the ability to upgrade items. It gives the player the chance to upgrade equipment earlier in the game. This is especially advantageous for early game runs, because players tend to put the scaling of weapons and defenses over raw damage gains.
In addition to influencing the discovery of items, Luck also increases the chances of being successful when upgrading items using the Blacksmith. This isn't to be confused with the Blacksmith's overall upgrade chances, which increase with each item level. They can also be enhanced by using anti-materials such as the Scroll of Strength and a Jewel of Blessing.
item upgrading Casesgg , shields and weapons come with the default Luck value of 40. These items can then be enhanced by golden ingots, spined leather or oak boards (depending on the material of the item) to give +40 Luck, or to increase the existing Luck of the item up to 140.
Additionally some items, like the Hollow weapon, which is infused with Hollow, can be equipped to increase the damage dealt by any damage-dealing skill by 5%. These items can be purchased in the shop or made using the correct ingredients.
Item Failure
Upgrades to items can be a costly process and not all upgrades will be successful. However, there are cash shop items that allow players to increase their success rate or prevent them from losing an item if the upgrade is unsuccessful.
When you upgrade an item the rate of success is displayed in the Honing UI. The percentage is the chances of successfully upgrading that item and can be enhanced by adding Additional Materials or Special Materials. There are limitations to the extent to which the success rates can be improved and the chance of an upgrade failing can't exceed 100%.
The Luck of an item can also affect the success of an upgrade. Each item has an average success rate of 25%, and each item that has Luck increases this chance by 5%.
The upgrade overlays for items are rendered above the items in the inventory. This could block enchantment effects as well as other effects. If you wish to disable the upgrade overlays, the config option decoration.renderUpgradeOverlays can be set to False in the Item Upgrader CORE client config.
